Road G - Southampton, NY

The End of The Road.

Sometimes it all lines up. On this day, a long period swell from Hurricane Teddy combined with a September off-shore breeze to bless Long Island with one of the best days of the year. The fact that the sun was out was icing on the cake.

The trucks and Jeeps lined the sand at Road G and dark green lines, sent from 1000 miles to the south, rolled in all afternoon.

The Green Room

Hurricane Teddy delivered. The best waves of the season this far (and of our lives in some cases) were ridden on this September afternoon. Beach breaks can be finicky but the Atlantic Ocean wave machine fired up for a few hours and the wind cooperated and did its part as well. At times the off-shore winds were so strong that a few buckets of salt water to face became part of navigating each drop-in.

Field Notes.

Hurricane Teddy was good to the East Coast. Very good. We were fortunate to enjoy several days of fun waves. Beach breaks have a certain summer flavor to them that was in full force on this warm September afternoon. I shot this photo set with a 70-200 lens and tried to find some interesting perspectives from back in the dunes rather than standing right on the shore.

Iā€™d like to give a shoutout to f-stop gear for the new set of camera bags they sent out. Sand and water are part of the equation at the beach and the f-stop protective bags certainly give me a degree of comfort when it comes to protecting equipment from the elements.
